What kind of fall adventures do you have planned?
Quote from Justin on October 4, 2022, 10:17 pmIm still trying to figure my way around and see what outdoor adventures I enjoy most and wanted to see what adventures all of you had planned to try to spark an idea. Anyone got any adventures planned that they want to share? Anyone got ideas for adventures upcoming that they may want to fine tune?

Quote from nathanu on October 4, 2022, 10:23 pmI'm hoping to build a campsite at my house. Nothing huge or fancy but we've got a couple of pairs of hardwood trees that are just far enough for a perfect hammock hang and I believe that I can level off spots for two small tents. All of that surrounds an area that would be perfect for a fire pit. Not sure if that qualifies as an adventure or a project but this seemed like a good place to chat about it 🙂

Quote from Rob6 on October 4, 2022, 10:36 pmHi @justin46, and welcome to this forum. I love pretty much all activities outdoors, and participate in a wide variety...except running...unless something or someone is chasing me. 🙂
I don't have any big adventures planned, but here are a few things I have on my agenda for the fall and into winter.
- Central Bucks Bicycle Club 41st Covered Bridges Ride (just north of Philadelphia, PA)
- A visit to Ricketts Glen State Park to hike the waterfall trail. I want to do this in the fall and again mid-winter when the falls are frozen. A winter hike requires a guide and ice equipment due to the iciness of the trails themselves.
- I hope to get in another paddle or 2 before it gets cold, either in my kayak or my newly acquired paddleboard, or both.
- Get back into climbing. I never quit, just kinda slacked off the last few months.
- Continue with hiking every weekend, mostly local trails but hope to venture out to some places I've never been before.
- Get in some more rounds of disc golf before it gets uncomfortably cold.
- I'd like to get in a camping trip or 2, but I doubt I'll have time this fall,
- Doubtful for this year, but long-term bucket list items is to hike Iceland, eastern Canada, and re-visit the western US and Canada.
Hope that gives you some inspiration. Let us all know what you decide on and share your experiences.

This sounds awesome! My back yard is small-ish, but flat, and is pretty private on one side, very private on the other (lots of wild foliage, and a small creek and ravine, between me and the next house), and completely private at the back (it backs up to an environmentally-sensitive bog area; nothing is built back there for a few miles.) I have tested out tents and other gear by spending nights out there on more than one occasion. 🙂 A permanent "campground" would be fun.

Quote from nathanu on October 5, 2022, 11:27 am@maxinem my wife and I bought just over 5 acres many years ago and have been saving (and scheming) to build our forever / dream home since then. It's finally coming together and one of my projects is that campsite. Its on a ridge on the backside of the property and borders a wildlife management area. Ablusolutely a little slice of heaven.

Quote from dadDale on October 5, 2022, 12:55 pmTomorrow is my wife's fall break (teacher) so we are headed to the North GA mountains for a few days of camping and lake paddling. Plus we are meeting my sister and our niece to surprise my Pop for his 90th bday for a train ride through the fall foliage.
Later this month another camping trip to Sapelo Island for a last bit of beach time before it gets too cold. This could be interesting as we have been invited by our "5 star hotel" inlaws who I do not think have ever camped!
Next month we are again participating in an overnight hike to LeConte Lodge in GSMNP that my wife's family have been doing for over 30 years. Hoping the fall colors are not completely gone by then.
Also have a century bike ride scheduled with the brother in laws for November as well.

Quote from flipflop on November 3, 2022, 9:29 pmI dont have any "adventures" planned but I have been getting out and hiking and camping. Im trying to figure out what gear would do best to start doing some backpacking. I think backpacking is basically just a hiking trip that lasts overnight or over a couple of nights, so you keep everything youre going to need in a backpack?
