Warm weather blanket / Snugpak Jungle Survival Blanket
Quote from nathanu on April 9, 2024, 11:53 amI've been looking for a good, lightweight, durable blanket for warm(er) weather camping and saw a review for the Snugpak Jungle Survival Blanket on The Outdoor Gear Review. The blanket got really good reviews so I decided to pick one up to try for myself. Anyone else got one that they can comment on? Anyone else got a warm weather blanket that they especially do or do not like?

Quote from AlaskaGeezer on April 20, 2024, 6:01 amI use a Merino wool sleeping bag liner I got at REI online. I think its from the brand Cocoon. It is very good quality 100% Merino, its not too bulky and it weighs about a pound. I don't like blankets in any kind of weather and I am a warm sleeper. It has multiple uses, which is nice because I live in Alaska and the Summer is short and cool. I have had one for 4 years and use it all the time and got a backup one for backpacking. Its soft and very comfortable. I have eliminated blankets and comforters all together. Its ok only when you are sleeping solo.

Quote from nathanu on April 22, 2024, 11:46 am@alaskageezer thanks for the response and info on the liner. I've got a Sea to Summit Reactor (I believe that's the name) sleeping bag liner that I bought just in case but have never actually used it. My quilt is normally more than enough for the camping that I do in cooler weather. I bought the Snugpak as something to take for warmer weather and was curious to see if anyone else was using one.
I did receive it and I've not had a chance to get it out in the woods proper but I've tinkered with it in the yard at home and it seems nice. The outside is a ripstop material and the inside is a weird sortof soft material that I've not felt before. It's also supposed to be anti-microbial, so we'll see how it holds up to a few days in the woods 🙂
I spent some time in Anchorage for work a few years ago and absolutely fell in love with Alaska. Definitely don't hesitate to post some pictures of your adventures up there if you have any want to!
