I was a lurker and (very) occasional contributor on the REI forums, and followed them to the Facebook page, and now to here.

I participate in a variety of outdoor activities -- road bike riding (long-ish rides); bike touring/camping; sea kayaking; hiking; car camping. I'm just starting to get into backpacking (which was what prompted me to join the REI forums) -- I've been on two very short trips, looking forward to more.

I live in Maryland, not too far from Annapolis.

Looking forward to chatting with everyone!

Get OUT!  Woohoo! Another Marylander!!  Welcome Maxine!  Nice to have you here.  I'm in north-central Maryland.  Harford County to be exact.

@maxinem welcome to the website.  Im just trying to get started doing things outdoors so it sounds like Ill be able to learn a lot from you!  Im looking forward to stories from your adventures like @nathanu said!
